Mons. Joseph Marino nominato nuovo nunzio apostolico in Bangladesh

CITTA’ DEL VATICANO Sabato, 12 gennaio 2008. Il Santo Padre ha nominato nunzio apostolico in Bangladesh mons. Joseph Marino, al presente consigliere nella nunziatura apostolica di Londra, Regno Unito, elevandolo al tempo stesso alla sede titolare di Natchitoches, Louisiana (U.S.A.) con dignità di arcivescovo. Mons. Joseph Marino è nato a Birmingham, Alabama (U.S.A) il 23 gennaio 1953 ed è stato ordinato sacerdote il 25 agosto 1979. Entrato nel servizio diplomatico della Santa Sede il 15 luglio 1988, ha prestato successivamente la propria opera nelle rappresentanze pontificie nelle Filippine, Uruguay, Nigeria, Nella Sezione per i Rapporti con gli Stati della Segreteria di Stato, e nel Regno Unito. E’ laureato in Diritto canonico. Conosce l’italiano, il francese e lo spagnolo.

Mgr. Joseph Marino named as new Apostolic Nuncio to Bangladesh

VATICAN CITY January 12, 2008. The Holy Father today named as Apostolic Nuncio to Bangladesh Monsignor Joseph Marino a priest of the Diocese of Birmingham, Alabama (USA) currently working at the Apostolic Nunciature in London, United Kingdom. He is being raised to the dignity of Archbishop and assigned the titular see of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Archbishop-elect Marino was born in Birmingham on January 23, 1953 and was ordained a priest on August 25, 1979. After obtaining a doctorate in Canon Law he joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1988. He worked successively at the Apostolic Nunciatures in the Philippines, Uruguay, and Nigeria, then at the Secretary of State’s Section for Relations with States, and finally at his post in Great Britain. He knows English, Italian, French, and Spanish.
